Palace Casino Resort is proud to be recognized by the American Heart Association as a Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite. This award is given by the American Heart Association to businesses that have demonstrated a strong commitment to providing a healthy workplace for employees.
“Palace Casino provides a healthy, smoke free environment for our associates and guests,” said CFO, George Conwill. In addition to being the only smoke free casino resort in Mississippi, Palace Casino Resort offers additional healthy lifestyle benefits to its associates. “Our associate dining area offers fruit and a fully stocked salad bar, as well as baked chicken and cooked vegetables daily. Associates can receive a free blood panel once a year at a local contracted clinic, visit the doctor for a co-pay of only $5, and join one of the area’s participating gyms at a discounted rate,” continued Conwill.
The American Heart Association established the Fit-Friendly Worksite program as part of their goal to reduce the death rate from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20% by the year 2020. The Fit-Friendly Worksite encourages businesses to make changes in the workplace, where many adults spend much of their day.

Palace Casino Resort today proudly announced it has been accepted at a Silver Level into the TripAdvisor® GreenLeaders™ program, which helps travelers around the world plan greener trips by highlighting hotels and B&Bs engaging in environmentally-friendly practices.
TripAdvisor GreenLeaders properties have met a set of environmental standards developed for TripAdvisor by a leading environmental consulting firm, with input from expert partners. The more green practices a hotel has in place, the higher its GreenLeader level, which is shown on the property’s listing on the TripAdvisor site.
“Palace Casino Resort is committed to green practices such as recycling and energy conservation,” said General Manager Keith Crosby. “We currently track power and water usage, use energy-efficient light bulbs, offer a towel and linen re-use option to hotel guests, recycle cardboard, metal, dry cell batteries, and utilize reclaim/recovery procedures of refrigerants when servicing equipment with refrigerant.” Crosby continued.
Travelers can now search for accommodations that have TripAdvisor GreenLeaders status on the TripAdvisor site, and view a detailed list of environmentally-friendly practices that they can expect at each location.
“TripAdvisor GreenLeaders are leading the hospitality industry in making efforts to improve their environmental footprint,” said Jenny Rushmore, director of responsible travel at TripAdvisor. “We greatly applaud these hotels and B&Bs, and are pleased to share their eco-friendly practices with our online community of more than 260 million travelers who visit the site each month.”

Palace Casino Resort slot attendants Eliza Mims, Marjorie Goodwin and Judy Haydock learned a few weeks ago that local casino player, Lezra Rogers, would soon be turning 100 years old. They decided to throw him a celebration. Rogers, his daughters Joyce Miller and Rose Farris, grandsons Bobby Farris, Chip Breitenkamp and Robin De Angelo were treated to lunch at the Palace Buffet.
Pastry Chef Elena Jackson of the Palace Café & Bakery made a fresh baked birthday cake in red, white and blue icing to represent Rogers’ favorite slot machine. Lezra was presented with balloons and a gift, as Palace Casino Resort associates, friends and family members sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him.
Lezra Rogers has been a member of Palace Casino Resort’s players lub since March 2005. “Mr. Rogers is like a family member to many of us here at the Palace,“ stated Eliza Mims, slot attendant. Lezra is a native of Moss Point. He has two daughters, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
